Afar we stareA Poem by Laura E. Arandacreated April 13, 2020 in the midst of the outbreak of the novel Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) which as a respiratory illness spread from person to person https://wp.me/p9Nb8r-zPWhole world at our fingertips yet only must we stare Waves lap making way to deserted pebbled shores We are forbidden to find solace there We each in our own way long for the day we are released from every care
Allowed once more to go to the sea and breathe in the blessed air Together the sand will cling to our skin like a lost friend and second coat Emmersing ourselves into the sea we wash away nightmares starting to bloat Desperately trying to erase days gone by making our hope, our walk, our lives threadbare
Mountains, valleys, caverns and mossy rock stand still in the midst of our distress Streams trickle on by as viciously nightmares gather a sick fog Like baptism and rebirth we long for waterfalls’ holy bless A wet welcome and a fond caress
Not a bit of Nature ceased as we were shut into our home Our breath ashes trapped in a spray of light Dancing behind the windowsill unable to roam The trees await for each of us to take flight
A day will come where each will find themselves in Nature’s bog Allowing our soul to mend in her perpetual fortress Expelling this disease that has fallen on our land Removing the sorrow as we gaze once again upon her majestic grace
