Living Legend

Living Legend

A Chapter by A. L. Allen

Nine noble knights

Have held this hilt

‘Leven lordly lords

Have handled and hefted

Me, this magnificent masterpiece of metal

This sword of silvery steel

I have battled with bravery beseeming

A wondrous weapon such as I

I have fought with fiery fierceness

And felled many fiendish foes

I have witnessed wonderful wars

In periods both past and present

Nothing can substitute the swift serenade

Of blade against blade; battalion against battalion

Although I have already aged

My steel still shines like a star

My blade is buffed

My hilt still hefted

Fear me if you are foe or fiend

Care for me, if caretaker thou art

Never nullify nor neglect

My valor and victories

For I am a living legend

Forever fire-branded

Into the meek minds

Of both poor, penniless peasants,

And the soft, sappy,

ridiculously rich royalty.

Author's Note

I thought it'd be kind of fun to make the sword a little conceited. :P

This poem, along with "Prisoner", "The Fiefdom", and "Peasant and Princess", were all part of an English assignment. Let me know what you think! :D
