Letter to My MotherA Chapter by A. L. AllenIn light of the Thanksgiving season, I couldn't help thinking how grateful I am for the life of my mother. This is the poem that transpired.Thank you Such a simple phrase But yet, when said sincerely It portrays the greatest praise
So thank you For the prayers you’ve shared For the times you spent Holding me when I was scared
Thank you For the words of truth So easily taught In the times of my youth
Thank you For the service you’ve shown The inspiration you’ve shared It will be with me e’en when I’m grown
Thank you For easing the mind of A young troubled heart You were the peace in our home; the dove
Thank you For your example. You’ve shown the way To live my life correctly To look forward to another new day
Though I can no longer see you Touch you Hug you Talk to you I can still say Thank you
You are now the angel of the heavens As you were the angel of my heart Thank you, dear mother For loving me from the start.
I cannot wait to see you In the life after this Between the golden gates I wait for your hug and a kiss
So thank you, One last time For giving me hope of the future In this darkest of times
Thank you Such a simple phrase But in this letter It is the greatest of praise © 2013 A. L. AllenAuthor's Note
