Summer Sings

Summer Sings

A Poem by Austin Hennings

Summer green leaves
Smiles sweating as my heart pounds
Tickle in my head
Legs asleep
Concrete talk to me
Whisper the words with your long brown hair
Confused by your name
Flowers in the grass as I fell flat on my face
Picked up by your crane
White as royal
55 years of age from a paint splattered temple
Teachings of the spiritually supreme
Satirically relieved
Confused by benevolent lies
Said my speech to my brain
With my eyes I talked to you sweet
Imprisoned to impress
Something genuine let us seek
Come talk to me
The pond and benches
Around the corner from your house and mine
I don't think I'll go home
