Now It's Autumn

Now It's Autumn

A Poem by Austin Hennings

Puzzling to say the least
The leaves fall like they're supposed to this time of year
Same colors
Same smell of wind and smoke surrounds my seat
A cool breeze to make my dreams flow smooth
Like a chilled river stream
Still the same cotton
Pink and red
Collecting what I longed to tuck behind my ears
And settle subtly in my holster
That I pray no one should ever see for themselves
All I wanted was for you to come home
I want you to show me a picture you drew
Tell me about the paints you used
And why you used them
All I wanted was to see you feel something other than that which is innate to my existence
I lost my heart
Though not broken and surely to be obtained
I smile until my eyes close so I don't see sadness
The humming birds never wanted to see you cry
They were supposed to protect you
Pour the clearest water and confer the freshest fruits
Now it's Autumn
The leaves are falling
I can never let you go
I wanna see you smile
As it gets colder please wear a jacket
And your silk scarves so you feel classy
Walk like when the days surpass they don't get colder and shorter
The wind will carry you
I hope you float below my tree
I pray you will be set free someday
