we are the Forgotten

we are the Forgotten

A Poem by Jenn
"

Wrote this for a creative writing class and decided to dig it back up. Thanks for reading. [:

"

every day is just another moment

to ignore

every silence.

every disregarding glance.

we stride right past with

blinded minds

no simple hello.

no empty exchange of words.

if only you saw the way i

peer behind

as footsteps echo away.

as your smile fades yet again.

the words left unsaid crumble onto the

concrete floor

there for the taking.

there to be trampled upon.

you know we are

the Forgotten.

friends molded into strangers,

memories tattered into ashes,

reminders of the forsaken.

Is the rhythm of the poem too redundant?

This was just fine !

I saw strangers passing without a word.
I read of emptiness in our culture in which
people pass and might have been great friends,
but they pass on and no one will ever know
what was lost.
The mechanics of the poem are just fine and
the substance was haunting----it has the required
affect.
Thank you for a nice write.
