On the Edge of the World

On the Edge of the World

A Poem by Lily E. Lin

peer
from these heights
stare
down the sights
double barrels ready to go
safety off, ignite, so
exc-! don't get excited, no
now where were we, oh
on the edge of the world?

this edge, barrier, paper thin
wobble, then flip a switch
-blade through the air
land in a spiraling flop
point buried in sod
shiny surface obscured
myriads of destinations
off blurred GPS read
are we there yet?

question marks encoded in 24 bit hex
incompatible striations cross screen
wandering where we might, are, be
we there yet on the edge of the world

Good poem! :)

Metaphorically - I could relate this to so many things.
It felt like a call. Good work though.

I love the abcbddddf scheme in the first portion of your poem. It drew me in. It made me think about edges; life/death, today/tomorrow, and earth/universe. Thanks for the marble moving this morning.

Peace
Blak

About
I suppose I should talk a bit about myself. Writing has long been one of my outlets of expression. I write to vent. That said, I enjoy the intricacies of the word, though it may be a double edged s.. more..
