April Showers Brings...A Story by A U R i
April Showers Brings…
John had a pretty normal childhood until he reached his high school years and started reaching the bumpy times in life. He made a decision to drop out his senior year of high school when this happened his parents kicked him out of their house and he had nowhere else to go. Dropping out of school and having no parental consent made it impossible for John to get a job. He was underage and had no high school diploma. Jobs didn’t hire him. He became very sad and depressed, always wore gray and dark clothes, and never wanted to be outside. He saw his days so gloomy and the sky always seemed gray until one day he just got tired of feeling this way and decided to make a change. He went back to school and got his diploma, after high school he went to college and got a good paying job.
After a couple of paychecks he bought himself a white Escalade and a huge white mansion. His gray life finally started to get better and John wore lighter colors now, mostly white clothing, John smiled frequently now and became a responsible, determined, independent adult.
John had a secret though that nobody knew about.
In the smallest room of the basement was a box, a tiny box with a gray sweater in it. This sweater reminded him of all the things he has been through to get where he is at in life now, and so he never gives up or get too greedy. John went to that box every month twice a month and reminded himself of all his struggles and all the things he had done in his life, and the box made him more pure and humble.
Things for John became wonderful; he had a good paying job, a college degree, and even met women named April. John met April one Sunday at church. He saw April was so holy and worshiping God, He thought she was the purest person he’s met. John started dating April and had been dating her for about one year before they made things official. John married April and days later April moved in with John. As soon as April moved in, John told her about his trips to the basement but did not mention the box! The only thing he asked of her was that when he was down there she couldn’t bother him or see what he was doing. Surprisingly, April did not say anything about it and did not complain, she agreed and continued cleaning.
April always cleaned, she never stopped cleaning. April was always washing clothes and making sure everything was clean. She scrubbed everything until nothing else came off it. Almost, as if it was a disease to clean for April. One day John went off to work and April was doing some spring cleaning taking boxes to the basement. One of the boxes was hers, a small squared box with a black piece of cloth and a gray sweat shirt inside, which were
April’s memories of what she really was. She started remembering what she did that cold and gloomy winter day, she remembered the blood and her laughter and how she killed him because he was interfering with her life and wanted all his money to herself the sin she can never erase. The thought that haunts her in her sleep of how she killed her ex husband Bob. Even though she never let John know about her ex husband or her box. So she tried to hide it so well that she didn’t even notice she placed it next to John’s sweater box. She heard the door and quickly went back upstairs and started cleaning again.
When John came home he showered ate and whispered to April “I am going downstairs you know the rules”. So as John began to look for the box he realized something weird he saw that now their were two boxes instead of one box, so he opened the first one and found his gray sweater, remembered and thought about the things in his past and what he usually thought about but while he was down their the curiosity killed him and he opened the second box.
And in this box he saw the black piece of cloth and gray sweat shirt and as soon as he went to go upstairs he found April behind him with an axe.
as he slowly backed away she smiled and said, “That sunny summer day you met me at church you thought I had the perfect soul. You actually thought I was praising the lord, ha-ha, when what I really was doing was asking for forgiveness, begging to be forgiven for all the sins I’ve committed. This wouldn’t have turned out like this Johnny, if only I could of cleaned you too, you should of let me clean my guilt with your soul, empty my conscience with your hands but I couldn’t I couldn’t give myself away and now I’m not the one that’s going to pay.”
She laughed hysterically and said, “I guess im not as nice as I seemed” and seconds later she cut his head off and laughed as it flew to the ground.
