PRAYER OF A SINGLE PARENT

Our good Lord, hold my hands through this journey of parenting

In the absence of a father, give me the wisdom to be the best daddy ever in a motherly way

And in the absence of a mother, grant me the same wisdom to provide motherly love in a fatherly manner

 

Lord, allow me not to be clouded by my own ideas of how to raise this child

Instead let me always consult you for directions

As I struggle to play the role of the absent parent,

Lord, guide me so that I don’t end up spoiling or hurting the child

 

And Lord, when the time comes for me to answer where mummy or daddy is,

Lord, grant me the strength to tell the truth for this can be very difficult!

 

Lastly Lord, thank you very much for this precious Gem,

For with him/her I have focus and purpose

I have to constantly keep my life in check

And most importantly; I have someone to call my own!
