the dinner date

the dinner date

A Poem by audacicity

The dinner date

Last night when I saw the devil,

The all-familiar devil,

I tried to run as I’m used to,

But I had no strength left in me,

So I invited him for a dinner.

And though I was terrified,

I engaged in a conversation with him,

And as the night grew darker,

I saw the beauty underneath his ugliness,

And I discovered that he was me

So I invited him to stay the night,

T’was  the best dinner date
