That Night

That Night

"

The cold white walls enclosed me,
A television was the only object in reach
White coat chatter
echoed the walls
Screams in my mind itched like a flea
"How did I get here?"
This madness seized my mind
The metal frame hugged my body
Along with lacerations on my legs and arms
The doctor said, "I don't want to see you here again"
Petrified, I replied, "You won't"
That night, I kissed my razors goodbye.

I liked that you were positive..I can understand the pain but girl you are indeed brave and courageous that you are trying to rise above it now..Writing is the best way we can forget all our stress , pain and agony and I hope that it will help you heal all your injuries in your heart so that you can start afresh again...
You expressed it well in this piece..
Keep on writing...

Self harm is a sensitive subject to address - you have approached this in a poetically poignant and sympathising way. Good write … and … interesting read! :-)

As cold and clinical as it can get... these words resonate & cut deep.. very well crafted in my humble opinion... fine words indeed & hopefully, lessons learned .... Neville

Amanda, your poem is so honest and raw. The b&w picture is as stark as the experience you went through. I applaud your courage and your strong spirit of survival. From abyss to transcendance, you rose and won. “I kissed my razors goodbye.” Stay healthy and beautiful my friend. Brava!!

Wow. This piece really got to me. You managed to create a clear picture with your descriptions, and the honesty and directness of your words struck me (in the best way possible). I truly believe that the best poems come from unfiltered truth and you managed to capture that. Thanks for sharing!
