Once there was a girl called Belle who always would wear red;
A little crimson dress with a bonnet on her head. One day she went to the woods to see her darling gran, With a luscious lemon tart and a succulent strawberry flan. Now on the way to the woods she met a cunning beast; Who thought that this small child would make a tasty feast. He said to her, "Why, little girl, who is this basket for?" She replied, "My dear old gran, who's nearly ninety-four!" "So where does this lady live?" the wily wolf enquired. "She's lived in Blossom Cottage since the day that she retired" With that, the wicked wolf tore off, wearing an evil smile. And little Belle continued on for quarter of a mile. Soon she saw her grandma's house, under the old oak tree, "Oh good." she said, "I'm nearly there, and it's not yet half past three!" She went down to the little cottage, the door slightly ajar, Walked in with a tired sigh she was shattered after going so far. Then she heard her granny's voice, "Why hello my dear!" Come bring your basket of treats down over here!" Belle- pretty but dim- went into her grandma's room, Completely unaware of her awaiting doom. In no time the wolf ate Belle, her tart and her flan, He licked his lips. "That was good, much nicer than her gran!" From then on, Blossom Cottage wasn't home to anyone, But the tale of little red riding hood still lives on. It may be told in different ways, more than you can say, But more than one person hears it each and every day. © 2011 Anna |
