spring rain

spring rain

A Poem by jaye river

how nostalgic the spring rain

still wets the leaves of grass all the same

fifteen years passed and now i see

the soil nourishes from underneath

There is nothing new under the sun, although we do change, and teh world we percieve changes with it.
This short write reflects on surface-level appearances and the deeper causes of such apparitions. The phrase "leaves of grass" brings Walt Whitman to mind. I think he would agree with the idea that an individual human's life is quite insignificant compared to that of Nature's, but despite their transitory nature, our experiences in life are something to celebrate.

I've never thought of rain as nostalgic...a thing with memory and desire. But I like the personification in this piece. Yes, our roots as people are also where we find our nourishment; from family ties that bind to history that gives life direction and existence meaning. I enjoyed this poem. F.

thank you for your kind words and insight
Beautiful brevity. We learn so much by looking at nature. So many lessons to be learned. I love this piece.

You are most welcome.
as we mature, we understand more and more about life...
and nature is a great teacher.
