the foxgloves hang from their stems like bells

the foxgloves hang from their stems like bells

A Poem by jaye river

the foxgloves hang from their stems like bells,

heavy from a summer’s rain

i look at you and feel the orchestra swell,

and hear my heartbeat patter against the window pane

I can tell you have marvelous training (from reading) of the great poets, T.S. being in the tiptoe tier with a few others, D.H. Lawrence, Wallace Stevens, Marianne Moore and Frost and Heaney.

they don't get much better than this. Concise in its imagery, the concreteness of senses all being sharply tuned to the razor point of one overarching idea. Easy unforced cadence and rhyme seamlessly executed.
