Acold I lay on the lap of dreary earth While Vulcan gripped you there alive. Tears crawled on my face as fear on you, Wondering why are we here tonight?
The Winds whispered our tale to me As Mnemosyne casted a spell upon time The buried dead Past then danced alive, Bringing euphonious hopes and vibrant smiles.
The touch, the laugh, and the rosy promises Adrift they went with the escape of your words. Poor Mnemosyne mourned and melted away As Oblivion swallowed his decayed prey.
While Vulcan feeds you with his flame, I phrase the words you said to me Now as I stand cold and denude, "It is Goodbye" and there I bury you.
One of the hardest things in life is to say goodbye to someone when they remain deeply enclosed within the heart. Such a painful event becomes magnified beyond measure depending on the reasons for the final goodbye.
What makes this poem stand out for me is the language and references to mythological entities; something i just wrote with in my latest poem.
A very delicate write. Very well worded and executed.

Thank you so much for reading it and for the uplifting review. Made my day :)
I absolutely loved the references to mythology. A friend or lover gripped by flame. Perhaps even a hope or idea? Memories can make us dance. They can be a beautiful and brief escape. Though memories, once beautiful can become to us a fate like death. And it becomes time to say to the one gripped with rage/fire, "Good bye."
I liked this a lot. Unique in both language and references. Made me think. Thank you for sharing.
You're a powerful writer! Bringing the reader in through cryptic words to a world full of meaning and stories, as well of course of emotion and imagery. I also enjoy your choice of words, perfect! Everything I say is true about this poem of yours as well. Tyfs!

Wow. Thank you kindly. You are welcome. ...:::;)))
There is something so mystical, so otherworldly in your thoughts, and in just moments one is carried to a place where Fire and Wind dance and play and fade into mists of morning dew. I sit here in the silences aching in the death cry of the word "Goodbye." xo

Goodbye, is indeed not something that is easily spoken. Often people try to avoid saying that word. This poem captures the very essence of the word. It is very well written.
I would love to see more.

interesting!
never read anything like this before. you might have a very deep knowledge 'bout history of greek. nice. liked it!
also, loved the part when you compared yourself "acold" winter, and him with "vulcan", the fire. quite captivating it is. you want him to remove your cold-ness, & embrace his fire overnight, perhaps, the damage's already done that can't be put back on mend. so it's quite worth sayin' "goodbyes". you buried him in memories, & walked on by his funeral of past-love. excellent work here!
captivating. historic. manifested. and a very intellectually perky look-like realistic poetry you get yourself "licked" in, as always. brilliant!

Sometimes what we feel are goodbyes aren't just that 'cause it's a beginning of a new tomorrow.. We just have to read the signs.. I liked the use of good vocabulary in this poem.. Gives a nice feel to it without breaking the rhythm... Good job 👍
