To Tell The Truth

To Tell The Truth

A Poem by Athena Marie
"

A poem about second thoughts...

"
Now and then you should stop and look
Around you for a while
Ask yourself why you went and took
A chance so free and wild

At the time it was logical
Although hanging by a thread
It all just seemed so magical
But you may have been mislead

You wonder why the past still haunts
When it should be laid to rest
What's new to you is always wrong
And you feel like second best

You picked your pieces off the floor
Quickly they were thrown away
When others still need much longer
For what you did in one day

++++++++++++++++++++++

When words slip out by accident
Don't dismiss why they were used
'Cause careless words are often meant
As a way to tell the truth

I can really relate to this poem. I too stuggle with keeping my thoughts to myself but that doesn't stop them from being true. Excellent job Ms. Wisniewski and very well said. 😊

Athena Marie, I like the ending best when you write :

When words slip out by accident
Don't dismiss why they were used
'Cause careless words are often meant
As a way to tell the truth

That is so true and said so well. I enjoyed reading this poem of yours and I will be visiting more of them.
