sevensevenA Poem by Lucy AllisonOur task was to write a poem based on what we remembered of 9/11 and 7/7- for me it was that a child's mind interprets what they hear very differently to an adult's, often without all the facts.
I remember it as August-time
when we went there. They did not know I knew. They looked at me with great confusion as I refused to take those elevators as I had done with ease on many carefree days before. My foot would not take one step towards the Underground station. How could they not know I knew? 'Terrorist' meant nothing to me, nor 'fatalities', nor 'suicide', but I had heard some news that the Underground would make you die. No exceptions. It had been the same a few years back my memories even hazier. I just remembered mama saying 'they blew up America' so how could they not realise why I did not want to fly there? © 2014 Lucy AllisonAuthor's Note
