I don't know what I'm doing.

Not moments after I typed a period at the end of my sentence am I looking up words in a thesaurus to make me look smarter, to make my words seem deeper, or to make me seem more urbane. 

Though I never retain the words I look up, the phrase: "synonyms for ____" never succeeds at leaving my search history. 

Maybe if I make myself seem more discerning, it would make up for my lack of understanding.

That is the beauty of writing. Very few people in the world know every single word in a dictionary. Yet someone can write the most sublime piece of art with the simplest of words. The most intelligent person is prone to stupid actions, unlike a wise one who already knows the results. There is nothing wrong with having a thesaurus on hand as long as you know how to use it wisely. Nice poem by the way. Thank you for sharing your work with us.
