Fighter

Fighter

A Poem by Devian

Fighting everyday,
others and myself.

I stood once in the shadows,
of their ignorance, and my fear.

Then I allowed my flame to burn,
tearing through the shadows and revealing the light.

Once I was scared to be myself, to love myself, to let myself love those like me,
Once I allowed others to tell me what was right and what was wrong,
But then I stood tall and announced who I am.

Not as they want me,
Not as I once thought I had to be, despite the pain,
Instead, I stand in glory, myself as who I am.

And now I have no problem saying it, not a single fear:
I AM GAY, AND I LOVE MYSELF!

Just a poem I did a while back when i was really going through a hard time being gay. But while going through my things, I found it. I thought I would post it here for you all to see and rate. Don't be too harsh, I was about 13 when I wrote it.
