The Tree

The Tree

A Poem by Aspiring Angel
"

Double Tanka

"

The Tree

The tree stands alone
Below moonlight glow

Its strength defined in beauty
Shadows appear upon orange

Moonbeams dance on green
Of yesterday's dreams

Time drifts to find the sunrise
Yesterday now in the past

The tree stands deeply rooted
Within constant drifting sand

Withstanding the chill
Within night's shadows for years

It has stood in place
Continuously reaching

The soul of this tree
Intended to stand below
The silence of night
Within the warmth of the sun

Predominate in beauty
Strengthened by the hand of God

Author's Note

This was much harder than I thought
it would be when I ran across this
challenge. If I remember right
from many years ago it is called a
double Tanka.

If you take the second line from
each Stanza and add it to the
second line of the next you will
find an entirely different Tanka
standing on its own, well sorta LOL

It really is to appear almost
like a paragraph but it would not
let me place it that way here
because of spacing

This is not exact but close
and for this no form poet
it was actually really fun to try
