The Tinman

The Tinman

A Poem by Aspiring Angel

The Tinman

Well hello there Mr. Tinman
What is that you say
The heart that you begged for
You want to give away

I have to ask the question
I have to ask you ...
Why

Is that a teardrop on you cheek
Tinman please don't cry

Oh I am so sorry Mr. Tinman
What you ask of me can't be done
Once a heart is given
It can belong to only one

I understand Mr. Tinman
But there is nothing more
That I can say

I know that you feel
Your heart is broken
But you can't give it away

To own a heart can sometimes
Mean sadness but
It also can bring great joy
It does not come with warranties
Your heart is not a toy

I can only tell you Mr. Tinman
As the owner of a heart
It  WILL  sometimes feel
As if its broken
As if it has been torn apart

Your heart is a wonderous gift
It can heal itself with love

You can find yourself ...
Just whisteling

Have you yet heard
The song of the dove

No more tears Mr. Tinman
Oh you now agree with me

I am glad that you stopped by today
I forgot to give your heart its key

Just remember Mr. Tinman
As the keeper of your heart
You must mold it very carefully
To love right from the start

Do not let it cause a tear
Because of
What you choose to do

Be wise with who you
Share your heart
Because it still ...
Can break in two

Goodbye now Mr. Tinman
Your future's up to you

Feed Back Welcome

Wow, I love the voice, soft and sympathetic, empathy seems to root itself
in the passion, and there is passion, overflowing, beautifully done,
the presentation, graphic, its all blissful, the technical depth is so subtle
and really accentuates the meaning, thus intensely strike the reader's heart.
this's lovely and a favorite to grace my library, thank you.

An amazing poem! ilike the way it's in a nice, tech way. Spoken as though you were an angel perhaps. The rhyming scheme and flow is wonderful! The life lesson is beautiful and so very true! Cute and beautiful at the same time!

Your words in your beautiful tapestry
seems to bring such vivid images to live
in the mind with a lingering effect
so very lovely indeed with such wonderful touches to your page,
breathing with sighs of beauty!
So wonderfully written from you Lesa, beautiful work!!

And tears make me rust too! lol I wrote a poem from the Tin Man's perspective many long years ago where he was asking Oz about instructions for his new heart, had forgotten all about it until reading this. Great job here. I enjoyed.
