I am not the soldiers wife. Only feeling her grief and expressing it as I feel she would.
There IS a she you know.
"On behalf of the President of the United States
and a grateful nation, please accept this flag as a token
of the honorable and faithful service of your loved one."
Tomorrow...
I Will Be Brave
Tonight you lay your head
Beneath the soil of home
I lay within our empty bed
All dreams now gone
Our Son took the flag today
From my trembling hands
How is it that a five year old
Can so completely understand
Your words were read
As were your requests
I held your Momma
As your words spoke to say
Your soul now rests
No longer your bed made
Of desert sand each night
Paved streets of gold
A just reward
For all you sacrificed
What am I now to do?
I really never let myself believe
That we could loose you
I hope you can somehow know
That my heart will never ever cease
To love you so
I realize I am a soldier's wife
But for this moment
I am first a broken heart
Alone in what will become
So many Sleepless nights
Tomorrow . . . I will be brave
You will be proud of me
Just amazing how this is written and the words so felt within the reader. It is gut wrenching to know that so many have to sacrifice. This is just a beautiful piece of writing.
A wonderful poem. Not only do the soldiers sacrifice but also the families. It is unfortunate that there are those who don't appreciate that sacrifice. Then There are those who know the true sacrifice of freedom.
Well written and well done.
This once again deeply touched my heart... I only had to read the opening statement and it all came
back with a flood of tears. Beautiful my friend.
Hugs and Love

I am so glad
That you have dropped in
To meet a new face
And experience a new heart
Come along with me as
Aspiring Angel speaks to
Me in whispers that brings
Her thoughts to live.. more..
