For My Father

For My Father

A Poem by Plitman_728

there's a dip in the couch where our bodies rested,

laughing together,

crying together.

a web in the far corner of the ceiling,

that witnessed our testaments of love,

our reach toward common ground.

and the ashes in the fireplace absorbed

the warmth that radiated from the moment,

5 seconds long,

when your arms were around me

and i felt six years old again,

and everything was right.

and i let you take my hand,

and show me all the things

you see in me,

the things i never could.

and you whisper that i'm

strong enough,

i'm brave enough,

i'm good enough,

and i weep.

because it's all that really matters,

to hear you say you love me.

I loved this :,) I love my dad and this is what our relationship is like. At least the way I interpreted it, its not a sad poem right? Because the last few lines are uncertain, like he never told you he loved you, but that doesn't make sense because the rest of the poem implies that you loved eachother. So I'll take it as a happy poem :)

its very meaninful, i love this peace it really describes a father and child's bond together. I have 2 contests and one is for dark poems and one is for simplified meaning poems, i think this would be absoloutely perfect for the simplified one x
