MY son My daughterA Poem by Asima ZahidThe days I
became a mom, tears of joy, hopes all strong Dreaming big
dreams for you, in which nothing could go wrong Oh! Seeing a
boy turning into a handsome man, praying..praying to live long And my
little angel, my little fairy, holding my finger how you loved the cradlesong How days
flew by, didn’t know…life revolved around you, comforting nightlong Don’t do
this, don’t do that, be nice, be wise, don’t be headstrong Forgetting myself,
tired yet contented and grooming you along Those happy and
fleeing moments of your childhood, though wanted to but couldn’t prolong
Now you two
are grown up, on your own and I don’t know where I belong I just hope
and pray, my time and efforts not gone awry, with thoughts my head throngs Fly, fly and
fly high, let nothing hold you back…just remember I’ll always be here lifelong I held yours
and I know you’ll hold my hands, let’s hope we’ll always get along
