A Web of Truth or Lies

You asked me a question and the truth I did give you

Then you issued a challenge of which I can’t win

When I tell you the truth you refuse to believe me

If I lie to appease you a web I will spin

 

I will give you the answer for which you are looking

If ever the memory can be pulled from the deep

But for now I will leave you although it destroys me

The only thing left is the love that I keep

 

You knew when you asked there was no good answer

You asked it on purpose to further your goal

You needed a reason to put me behind you

Our love for each other was taking a toll.

 

You cannot believe I would always be truthful

Even though it would mean I must suffer this pain

I understand fully your need for your refuge

It’s what you must do to keep yourself sane

 

I have accepted the fact that this is God’s doing

Although it’s created by your own design

I have loved you forever and will always be waiting

Hoping and praying that you will be mine

The author feels they have wronged their love in some way, and the love has asked for truth in order to find a reason to leave. A very sad and truthful piece.

Very close KL... in this case the author has told the truth and the truth was they hadn't wronged their love - but their love refuses to believe it - Thank you for your input - perhaps I need to do a re-write to make that more clear. The love wants to be told they were wronged and the author cannot admit to that because its a lie.

This is so heartbreaking. How cruel that man who made you suffer for such a challenge! Love shouldn't be a subject for any challenge. Love is divine. It is sacred. It's not a game.
