CoastA Poem by AshleyxLongboarding is a recent new love of mine.Coast Cuts and Bruises and that on scrape on my behind Just so I wouldn’t fall behind Ankles on their last run Last Sunday, last of the sun Skate until were coasting By the light of the moon and street lamp spotlight The climb of the incline is the admission price to the Downhill derby Sitting on the wood To make the stakes worth taking A coffin run with a spit second turn No pads, no pansies, no punkin’ out Cuts and bruises and that on scrape on my behind Just so I wouldn’t fall behind The rubber On the heels of my sneakers Are tested for endurance And a chip of my elbow Still lodged in the asphalt When giggles follow falls Sticks and stones and broken boards Pulling my last quarter To fix the nitch On the nose When the curb jumped right out in front of me Grass stains, dirt stains, and “Remember that time?” pains Grab my hand I’ll whip you forward By the tips of your finger Learning the hard way To never jump off Until I’m limping back home
