Chapter 0: Before

A legend told and forgotten

Long before you drew breath, long before even the eldest can remember, humans lived in peace alongside another.  The Mage-born.  While humans were curious, always looking for new ways to solve problems and grow, the mage-born were always content with their lives.  But one day, a great darkness was cast over the earth and threatened the existence of both races.  Demons and many other Unholy creatures rose up from the pits of hell, the most powerful being N'a'shezbaernon.  He could defeat legions of men with single swipes of his claws and silence mages with a single shout.  It looked as if all was lost when the gods chose seven champions from the Mage-born: Castitas, Temperantia, Caritas, Industria, Patientia, Benevolentia, and Humilitas.  They were called The Seven Virtues.  Given immense power, these champions fought to protect the human and magical races.  When they confronted N'a'shezbaernon at Mt. Oculus the destruction was so great it was made into a hole leading to the ninth circle of hell.  If it wasn’t for the actions of Caritas, the Virtues would not have survived.  He sacrificed himself to restrain the demon in the spiritual world enough for the other six to banish him for a millenia.  With N'a'shezbaernon banished in hell, the six virtues disappeared, never to be seen again.  But before they disappeared they spoke of a prophecy:

A lone wolf will rise from the embers,

A light in the darkness,

To protect the pack from disease,

And lead them to eternal victory.
