I dare not shut my eyes!A Poem by Asra Hakak....or else you'll be gone forever.
Writhing, in these cold sheets again,
Tonight; your shadow settles, cool besides me. Still, holding me together as one. But; sometimes you are gone again. Fading into light; and out: Deserted, sweat, loose, lucid eyes. Those nights and they say Let sleeping dogs lie. They don't talk about it for me! And I can't sleep, for they forget you; In blinks, so I dare not shut my eyes! I feel air surfacing in between all the days. Mind; fragments slowly slipping away. But you still lie besides me, Blinding me tightly! So I stay, yet pin pricks, twice a week; "Better" they say, they lie But, No, I wont mind; Because I know you're still with me. © 2016 Asra Hakak |
