I dare not shut my eyes!

I dare not shut my eyes!

A Poem by Asra Hakak
"

....or else you'll be gone forever.

"
Writhing, in these cold sheets again,
Tonight; your shadow settles, cool besides me.
Still, holding me together as one.
But; sometimes you are gone again.
Fading into light; and out:
Deserted, sweat, loose, lucid eyes.
Those nights and they say
Let sleeping dogs lie.
They don't talk about it for me!
And I can't sleep, for they forget you;
In blinks, so I dare not shut my eyes!
I feel air surfacing in between all the days.
Mind; fragments slowly slipping away.
But you still lie besides me,
Blinding me tightly!
So I stay, yet pin pricks, twice a week;
"Better" they say, they lie
But, No, I wont mind;
Because I know you're still with me.

Honest, strong and direct words. I liked them.
"Writhing, in these cold sheets again,
Tonight; your shadow settles, cool besides me.
Still, holding me together as one. "
A warm body near. A savior for the most of us. Thank you Asra for sharing the amazing poetry.
