SADNESS

SADNESS

A Poem by Asra Hakak
"

''it feels like home now''

"
Sometimes sadness pays me a visit, out the blue,
As a river, it floods me and there's nothing I can do.

It surges and pulses around my thoughts, like stones,
Its an unstoppable force & makes its presence known.

I treat it with the kindness I can muster up
I sit quitely, and ask myself, 'What's up?',

With the light of my awareness, it suddenly shimmers,
And what was a flood is back into a gentle river.

It washes my soul, it cleans away the dust
It polishes my being, taking away the rust

I sit here, in my chair and realize what has happened
Sadness came...but I no longer feel saddned,

There's beauty in the pain and magic in the madness,
And...There'a a touch of joy in the visits by sadness.
