LETTER TO THE SOCIETY!A Chapter by Asra Hakakinitiating an end to the ongoing story of discrimination
DEAR SOCIETY,
You told me I should be stick think, but curvy all at the same time. You told me I should keep to myself, my thoughts aren't worth a dime . You told me I should wear make-up, no guy wants to see my bare face. You told me to follow your rules, or forever feel out of place . Well I think, it's time to send a wrecking ball through the walls you have build around me. I think I'm done with listening to the constant rules and lies that surround me. I'm over this little Barbie world, where everyone is pretty and plastic and fake. You're messing with people's reality and it's putting lives at stake. You send girls crying to bathroom, to hide because they feel fat. And make others cram in food, never stopping because you feel they are flat. You give them neat labels to organize them into your ideals . You compare us to one another, never considering how it feels. SO HERE'S TO THE SOCIETY THAT DOESN'T CARE LET ME TELL YOU, NOW I'M NOT GOING TO BEAR. I WON'T WEAR MAKE-UP JUST TO FEEL INCLUDED OR PLAY DUMB FOR A MAN. I LIKE MY SKIN EVEN IF I'M PALE, SO NO, I WON'T GET A TAN. I LIKE MY HAIR AND FACE AND MY BODY JUST THE WAY THEY ARE. TRY TO CHANGE ME ALL YOU WANT, YOU WON'T GET EVEN A BIT FAR.
