IT'S A CELL PHONE WORLD

IT'S A CELL PHONE WORLD

A Poem by Asra Hakak
"

when these things appeared first they seemed so cool but eventually somewhere somehow they ruined the taste of life.

"
why aren't we capable of love anymore?
why don't you search it on Google chrome?

or may be the answer lies beneath your hand .
on Facebook and Twitter and instagram.

the grass seems much greener in next persons yard
when you search for validation within your sim card

and the phone calls saying sweet dreams this night
have been replaced by text messages reading good night

the great get togethers of childhood friend groups
have been confined to the social media chat groups

first dates used to be of such innocent form
now it's texting off shameful tinder that's turned into norm

our generation has lost the value of deep conversation that ignited warmth of love within
unfortunately short talk is the new in

so if you're feeling a bit empty and you are feeling alone
look up from your screen
and put down your phone

Very well written!! This poem is so realistic at how technology defines us. It became part of us, and unfortunately so many people lost the ability to talk to one another face to face, or even calling someone on the phone. Very few people do that now. I like the way you write, and keep up the good work.

This is painfully realistic, and...that's all I can really say, really. (I can't think of much else to say, sorry~) Nicely written poem you got here~!

This is an incredible poem. It is written so well and unfortunately is so true.

This perfectly captures the world today. Everything has changed so much and the world keeps evolving. Technology is great but nothing can replace the real thing.
Very well done! I really enjoyed this.

Yes indeed!
tysm for reading my write up's!
It definitely feels like a much different world... a world where finding true love is rare. I'm not sure that it's better than it was 20 years ago... I'd much rather have love :)

true that
it was nice to have your review
Tysm for the read
I really think you should put your writing on the website wattpad - if it is not there already. I suggest this because your writing is valuable to a young audience - it is fresh, relatable and not graphic in terms of violence or sex. You would get a lot of views, input of a young impressionable audience ( we have a more mature crowd here) and your words would reach more people. Your writing makes me happy and so for purely selfish reasons - keep going!

Technology (as good as it is) is putting people out of work and taking away community kinship. Conversations are taking place in space, not one on one. I like the way you made that connection here.

Or if that's too hard, look it up on google... Lol. Yeah, phones take away a lot of value from our lives, that includes privacy too. A hundred years ago, if you went down to the lake, fishing, no one disturbed you, but now, you're available to just about anyone and everyone who knows your number, at any time. The apps you use every single day, know your location, your name, your birthday, everything. Your friends are all online. You rarely get together cuz it's easier to dial up their number, or just drop a quick message on face. Where is this world going to? One day, he will come, for sure. all hail the digital messiah.
