Just Another Dream

Just Another Dream

A Poem by ashleymarie

I come to in a cold sweat

My body is wet

Not just wet, but soaked

My throat is tight. I feel as if I've been choked

I realize I'm lying in a puddle

This unknown situation quickly becomes a muddle

I try to move

But there is something on my ankle that I cannot remove

A chain

I begin to strain

I need to get out

But what is out?

Where am I?

Please don't let me die

A door slams

There is sweat coming from my hands

I hear voices, but not in my head

There are shadows ahead

So scared

Judgment impaired

My breathing is heavy

I have to become steady

Think straight

Clean slate

And there he is

This is quite the opposite of bliss

He is tall with scars on his face

What the hell is this place?

He pulls out his knife

He's going to end my life.

Finally I wake

I can't stop the shake

It's over

Ahh. Composure.
