Stop and Smell The Truth.

Stop and Smell The Truth.

A Poem by Ashley Simonne

To her, the beauty that she ever so mercilessly uprooted
Is the only perfection she’ll ever know.
She thinks to herself “this is what beauty really is”,
But in truth it will only stay beautiful if it continues to grow.

She admires God’s work at the tip of her fingers,
She is holding on for dear life.
She has no knowledge of the beauty within her,
One day I hope she realizes she will win this ruthless fight.

I wish I could say that this world isn’t a shallow and ignorant place,
But truth is I am the only one who noticed.
I wish I could tell you that you’re beautiful to your face,
I’d tell you how the flower you hold is simply a mirror.

Just wake up and smell the truth,

A flower is rooted deep within you that will forever grow,

Every piece of you is beautiful,

You really deserve to know.
