No Love

No Love

A Poem by Ashley Dawn Proctor

No love
By: Ashley Proctor
Dedicated to people that are victims of domestic violence and who has died from it. Let's make a stand and stop domestic violence!

It was the time she realized she had to leave and let him go,
Feeling sorry for herself was getting old and that was all she did know.
He hurt her constantly telling her lie after lie,
He even put his hands on her and said hurtful things to make her cry .
When you seen her she always had a smile on her face even though behind that smile was pain.
You could tell she was holding something back and her tears poured like rain.
He was always so negative with her and made her feel low,
She felt like she was trapped and didn't have anywhere to go.
She hid the pain from her family because she didn't want them to be scared ,
All the times he hit and cursed at her made her realize he never cared.

He told her if she would go to the police he would kill her and her family,
He pointed a gun at her to scare her even more and all she could do was beg for mercy.

This man had her by every inch and she was so hurt ,
She felt like she was nothing and less than dirt.

She was terrified he would pull that trigger one day,
All she ever did was reached out to God and prayed.

She felt lost and broken down all the time and she wanted to make a stand,
So she got in her car and drove to the police station .

She reported the bruises and told them about the threats he made towards her.
Before she knew it she walked in her house and everything was a blur.

He shot her in the chest and wrestled her down,
She was fighting for her life and hoping she heard the sirens sound .

Then all of a sudden everything went black and still,
She laid there dying while he was thinking who else he should kill.

Then he shot himself because he didn't want to make a run for it,
He chose to go to Hell and live in the fiery pits.

We fail to realize the reality of domestic violence andwe always put that aside . We have to put it out there to show what can happen and what happens everyday.

I don't like it but that is only because of the situation. Normally there is drug use in abusers to dissolution realty. It normal for angry or depressed people to use drugs as an escape or something to that nature. But apart from that it's well written. Has great and deep feeling. Next time try to feel more of the situation not just the act of what you write. It will give it sustenance and emerson to the readers. Thank you for sharing your writing.

What a precious bit of writing, it captivated me right from the word go. I know that you have written this from experience and I'm very sorry for your loss. Domestic violence is an unfortunate reality, especially in developing countries, there are scores of precious women who live under subjugation and fear. Lets pray to the LORD that he may deliver all such dear ones from the clutches of their monstrous husbands.

And god shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new.
Rev 21:5-6.
This poem reduced me to tears, truly heart wrenching.

This is a great poem! Domestic violence needs to be focused on more today (Which it is in the sports world) and hopefully others start to notice.. great work

This is so poignant and it describes so vividly what too many ignore. If everyone were so honest about the problem of domestic violence then the abusers would have nowhere to hide.

Keep writing. You have talent, but like all of us, have room for improvement, and the only way to improve is to keep it up.

A very sad poem. When I was young. My mother was abused and were many safe houses for women. We must ensure women can find safe places and be helped. Cost of this need should part of all cities budgets for all women need to know they are not alone. Thank you for sharing your words and thought for a important topic.
