Everything Stolen on One October Night

A Poem by Ashley Dawn Proctor

Everything Stolen One October Night
By: Ashley Proctor

On one cold night in October I lost my Nanny to murder,
I never knew he would do that to her.

It crosses my mind day and night,
I feel like I'm in a constant fight .

It's hard to think clearly on what my mother and I had to see,
I know in my heart my Nanny didn't want that neither for her or for me.

It's a daily struggle that weighs on my mind,
It seems like it's getting worse with time.
Don't get me wrong I have good days,
But when you think about murder it puts your mind in a maze.

You feel like you can't get out and find happiness,
Oh my precious Nanny I dearly miss.

The pain is growing more and more,
It feels like my tears will forever pour.

He stole my family's heart when he shot her multiple times,
He didn't even think twice because he went out of his mind.

I know my Nanny had to be scared to death,
She didn't know that night she'd take her last breath.

The pain grows more and more not knowing everything that went on that night,
I know my Nanny fought with all her might.
My family misses her so much,
We miss everything about her right down to her warm and loving touch.

We love you Nanny and we'll see you again one day ,
But for now all we can do is trust in God and pray.
