SplinterA Poem by AshleyA splinter slipped under my skin And it’s me who is at fault I threw caution to the wind Forgetting its subtle assault It was sudden It was piercing Deep into my skin So deep I might add It may never see light again It rooted itself into my veins And continued to manifest Perpetually unforgiving pains That radiated through my chest Your hand was grasping onto mine As you tried to pull it free But you told me it was hard to find And you let go so I could see But then the pain was gone And the reality was as such There was no shard inside my finger The splinter was your touch
