Lessons Learned, lessons failed

Lessons Learned, lessons failed

A Poem by ashweejune

Silent tears are denied their escape,

Everything is held inside

What can I do now?

I’ll break eventually

But not in front of you.

Never when you can see me.

When my tears finally fall,

It will be my own fault,

For not being strong enough,

I put on that careful smile,

My porcelain mask is in place.

Because anything else will break.

If you won’t try to see through it,

Why should I open up to you?

No point in spreading my pain,

No one deserves what I feel

So I’ll keep it locked away,

At least…until I can.

But never again will you see my soul,

I already bear enough scars.

It’s not your fault, I promise,

I should have learned my lesson.
