Unconscious Feelings

A poem about still being heartbroken even long after they left.

I am still heartbroken

I thought it had passed

But this experience has brought you right back

To the forefront of my mind

And I am tired of thinking

Of wishing

Of waiting for these feelings to fade

Because enough time has passed for me to know

You are not the one

You never would be

We were always doomed to fail

I can honestly say I don’t want you back in my life

My brain knows that

But my heart hasn’t quite caught up

As it is attending to the empty place left by you
