Why Won't It Stop Raining?

A sad poem about constantly being let down.

General rule of thumb

Don’t look forward to anything

Your hopes will rise like towers

Then come crashing down all around you

Leaving you broken and alone in the rubble

You never know what could go wrong next

But you can say for certain

That it can always get worse

And, usually, it does

Never fully giving you time to pick up the pieces

This slowly picks away at you

Breaking you

Little by little

Until there is nothing left

You lose your happiness

Your hope

Your will to go on

Because what’s the point of just existing

You no longer feel alive

But you’re still breathing

You have a pulse

You listen to your heartbeat slow

Steady with your breathing

As you wish it would stop

You want it all to stop

So why won’t it

You feel awful

You feel nothing

You wonder and hope this will all just end
