Sweet Talk

Sweet Talk

A Poem by Ashley Rachelle

Tell me all the things
I want to hear
Sweet words
Your breath on my hair
Say the right things
Get the reaction
Rejection isn't in your dictionary
Only action
Ask me to dance
I'll never say no
Ask me to leave
And I'll go
I know what you do
You'll play with my heart
Again and again
Now we are back to the start
Tell me you love me
Open the door
Introduce me to your family
Tell me you want more
Ask me to stay
And I'll never leave
Quite talking I beg,
I ask, I plead
Leave my ears alone
Stop haunting me
Trapped in invisible chains
You'll never let me be
You're a siren of love
A monster in disguise
Help me leave you
I can live your lie
I wish you could love
The way you say you do
Putting spells on me
Saying it wasn't you
You sweet talk
But I have turned deaf
Losing my hearing to bullshit
And sight of whats left
I am numb
All alone
No sound
Or sight
No enjoyment will I have
While you're in my life
I feel again now
As I walk down the street
Turn on your corner
Where we meet
You slither your presence
Back to my life
Whispering in my ear
Making everything all right

I have had an experience with this. Based upon what I have gotten out of the poem. They make me feel alone because they chose a different course. They have taken that course and now they are coming back around. She has been flirting with me now and she tells me that she loves me. If her love is for real, then like you said, everything is alright. I thank you for this poem, for it resonated with something I am going through right now.
