I Dare You To

Written August 30, 2009. I went through a really bad break-up in the summer of 2009. Me and the guy had been dating for over a year and a half and then he ended it with no reason.

I dare you to look me in the eyes, and

I dare you to tell me the things you hide.

I dare you to reveal how you feel inside,

I dare you to tell me those pretty lies.

 

I dare you to remember why you loved me, and

I dare you to say that you were happy.

I dare you to think about all those memories, and

I dare you to say that they don't mean a thing.

 

I dare you to take back all the sweet things you said, and

I dare you to claim your half of my bed.

I dare you to say that I'm stil stuck in your head, and

I dare you to admit I'm your biggest regret.

 

I dare you to walk away,

I dare you to leave me this way

I dare you to hurt me and cause all that pain.

I dare you to break my heart anyway.

 

I dare you to look me in the eyes

I dare you to come by and apologize

I dare you to say you need me in your life

I dare you to tell me those pretty lies.

A really nice job on this Ashley. You've created a poem that has the ability to insinuate the invisible tie that binds two people together in such a way that we can see the closeness and passion between them without actually being told. Great work.

I like this poem. In some spots I see that you want him back, and in other spots I get the vibe that you just want him to be a thing of the past. I'm not sure if you really do feel that way, but it was a wonderful write nonetheless.
