The Dark City

The Dark City

A Poem by Ashesh
"

In 2006, Maoist joined hands with other Political Parties to outcast Monarchy in Nepal. This poem is about the events that occurred in the final days of Clash.

"

Darkness swallowed the city

Amused eyes stare for a while

Hear the footsteps on the road,

Roaring to put out all the lamps

Eagle in the sky

Putting flashes of light

The space is very heavy

Smell of blood is in the air

Time stopped ticking

And our heart stopped beating

When we heard the lunatic echoes

Of thrashing plates and human voice

Monsters laughed with full delight

And we clapped our hands out of their sight

It was Tuesday evening that she cried

Nobody heard it; I felt her tears for a while

Author's Note

Ashesh
It drizzled in the evening of the final day of “Revolution”- Civil War. I believe that day it was not the rain that fell on this soil but the tears of Mother Nepal.

You convey the sinister truth of what fighting is. It’s a tragic poem that speaks so much of what happens in reality. These kinds of poems serve as eye opener or even just a bitter reminder of what life is when there is war and conflicts. The atmosphere you set here is accurately maintained until the very end.

Keep Writing. ^___^

Heartfelt plaint...helplessly watching your world change before your eyes...too small to matter...too small to count...too small to make a difference...
but never too insignificant to weep for what was but is no more...
Very well written...

very very good imagery, the descriptions are marvellous and did an amazing job creating the feeling of fear and sadness and hopelessness. In the third stanza you said "tickling" do you mean "ticking?" Anyway, I liked how you wrote the stanzas in a zig-zag fashion instead of stacked neatly down the margin. Great poem, written on a great topic with lot's of thought put into it

A powerful story. To be in the center of a revolution would be special if your side won. The problem with revolution. Someone will lose. The poem told a story of great change and events. A outstanding poem.
