Crush

Crush

A Poem by Ashley Lytle

When I look at him

I see a rainbow

A textbook waiting to be filled

A novel waiting to be written

A dance waiting to be choreographed

And an ending never to come

As there was never a beginning

But when I look at him

I see a beach with soft sand

A mountain to struggle up

An ocean to swim

A lake waiting for me to jump in

Which I never do

As they weren't real to begin with

But when I look at him

I feel the warmth from the fire

I see snow falling from the sky

I smell the rain as it covers the ground

But there's something missing

As it never truly existed

But when I look at him

Nothing is impossible

At least in those moments where he's beaming

Brighter than I've ever seen

But when I look at him

For just a few moments

Reality and dreams coincide
