My Prision

My Prision

A Poem by Ashley Lytle

Once what felt so safe
Is now nothing but a prison
I pass by the walls and see death
When I once saw the life
It's all beginning to weigh
And the number keeps on rising
I've lost control of it all
I'm barely hanging on
But I've got no one left to save me
Save me from it all
So I fall back down
Down to where I was before
Maybe that's just where I belong
It's a never ending battle
One I really want to win
But the odds aren't in my favor
At least not anymore
All I can do is breathe
And hope I survive
Until I can escape this place one day
And put it all behind me
Maybe then I'll be okay
Maybe then I'll feel safe

There is no place better than the place where you belong, but falling down in defeat is never where anyone belongs. I want there to be hope for this person in the end. I love love love the ending you have crafted. The last two lines really tie it up well in my opinion.
+1 from me.

I think everyone can relate to this in some form or another. Life is an eternal struggle and we are never truly free, whether it is from our minds, bodies, addictions or even our families.

Love and support can get us through the rough patches, but ultimately, it is up to us wether we get up again...

You're welcome
There is no worse feeling than being scared of your own thoughts and mind. This poem does a great job at illustrating that fear. I love how you brought light to the feeling of falling back down into your own thoughts every time you try to climb out. Being lost in your own personal prison is the worst and most difficult type of lost anyone can be. Thank you for sharing.
