Alive in Our MemoriesA Poem by Ashley LytleIn memory of my uncle Nick Brown. He was taken to soon.Nothing but memories Slowly they're slipping away I'm grasping on but there's not much I can do My worlds gotten darker It still hasn't hit The sky is your home I wish it was down here Flying above, having fun Always watching I know that it is you Three are left to grow alone You did all you could do Time went to quickly I wish it could have slowed The world is so unfair I wish I could understand But I know I never will The little girl will grow She'll graduate so strong One day someone will ask her for her hand And we'll make sure she's loved Her wedding day will come Something will be missing But we'll do the best we can The boy will be a man too soon Not quite sure what it means Kindness shall bring him far He's been taught that well The little boy will grow up Something will be missing He doesn't get it yet He'll grow up knowing time was cut too soon And there was nothing that we could do Now tears flow down our faces As we ask our lord why The children will grow up And they'll grow up just fine You left them in good hands now You've done all you can do We know you're watching over us You're our guardian angel now We're awaiting the time until we can see you However long that may be You overcame your mistakes Learned to change your ways Life was finally coming together And then you got called away The little boy started football I know you didn't know But we know that you'd be proud At the way he runs across the field We cling onto our memories Where you still live on so well Our love for you shall never fade It's written for eternity Never to escape © 2015 Ashley Lytle |
