Restlessly waiting

Restlessly waiting

A Poem by Ashley
"

Poem dedicated to all the homophobes and racists out there in the world. It's time to realize that we're all the same. We're all human, d****t!!

"

You look at me but don’t see me

No matter how loud I shout
No matter how hard I struggle
To you I don’t exist.

Your eyes stare right through me
Like I’m an insignificant insect
Crawling on the surface of your perfect world
Unworthy of your penetrating gaze

Sometimes I wonder why,
When I see you I end up crying.
Why it hurts me so much,
To see you there glaring.

One day you’ll wake up and realize,
That I am not an insect unworthy of your gaze,
But a human being,
Just like you.

Soon the day will come,
When you finally understand,
What it’s like to be discriminated against,
And cease to hate me because of who I am.

Until then I will wait,
Enduring everything you throw at me,
Tolerating your hatred and violence.
Knowing that, like everything, this too will end.
