Sonnet I

Today I’m trying something new.
I’m spending but a thought on you.
Today I will not wish or dream
To make things more than what they seem.
I will not make us more than friends.
I’ll feed my hopes to the hungry winds.
I will not shed a single tear
From anger or shame, despair or fear.

Yes, I’m trying something new,
Spending but a thought on you.
But that one thought of mine will hold
Every secret I’ve never told.
