A Poet's SacrificeA Poem by Ethan BartiromoI have secrets that cannot be told Such as that my soul has been sold I sold it to poetry just to grow old but my actions are very un-bold you would think that my heart is all gold but really it is just growing with mold honestly my blood is a cold I threw away innocence and guilt's what I hold You think I am an innocent boy but really I am just the merchant's toy people go fishing and I am the koi I feel only pain and never feel joy oh I am sorry I forgot to say, "hi" where are my manners I let out a sigh I am just another commoner guy "are you there," I look up to the sky you know all I do is I really do try this deal I made it was surely a lie I did this all just for fame why? Just to later have to say, "goodbye!"
