A Poet's Sacrifice

A Poet's Sacrifice

A Poem by Ethan Bartiromo

I have secrets that cannot be told
Such as that my soul has been sold
I sold it to poetry just to grow old
but my actions are very un-bold
you would think that my heart is all gold
but really it is just growing with mold
honestly my blood is a cold
I threw away innocence and guilt's what I hold
You think I am an innocent boy
but really I am just the merchant's toy
people go fishing and I am the koi
I feel only pain and never feel joy
oh I am sorry I forgot to say, "hi"
where are my manners I let out a sigh
I am just another commoner guy
"are you there," I look up to the sky
you know all I do is I really do try
this deal I made it was surely a lie
I did this all just for fame why?
Just to later have to say, "goodbye!"

This is amazing and brought tears to my eyes because we've all felt that way. You truly have a gift!
