the fallen leaf

the fallen leaf

A Poem by Aradhana
"

It is a high time now that we rise above our greed and pay attention to the warnings given by nature. we need to treasure and take care of it. here is a conversation between a person and a tree.

"

There is this tree

Old, gloomy and it’s branches set free

In middle of the street

While I was standing and admiring it,

He waved his hand to me

And said,” glee! At last someone

Who notices me”

I saw he was miserable

I asked out of curiosity

“ what happened?”

He replied

“ oh ! to me?! Nothing”

“Why are you depressed?”

“Actually I’m suppressed”

“Who did that to you?”

“Think yourself

The place where you reside

Is the graveyard

Where my family died”

“Sorry! I did not know”

“It is not pity

That you should show”

“Tell me! How can I help?”

“Introspect yourself

Am I the one in need?”

I reflected for few seconds

And said,

“You are right indeed”

Now how do you feel?”

“I think we are in a dire need”

“Need of what my dear?”

“Some brains I guess”

“But you’ve got one right”

“Then how did we end up like this”

“Just lack of few things”

What are those”

“Be aware!

Use resources properly

Control your greed

And you will definitely succeed”

“Thank you ugh…”

It suddenly turned back normal

Fell from the above

The prettiest leaf

And at least this time

With a lesson I did leave……

This is a clever yet slow boiling pan and so interesting to read. Could have gone another way, yet ends where it should: protect Nature and everything it means with mind and heart in equal quantities. You have only to look at a plant, shrub or tree to know it's sad, wanting.. just as can see the same wretchedness in a human being. You've captured and expressed the need by willingly sharing your concern with your readers. Brava, Aradhana!

I think this is really great. I like the play of words....a slightly whimsical write with a serious lesson for mankind. Yes, we must learn to control our greed. This is really good work!

Hmm true ! Sad truth which knowingly I don't want to believe on💔
I take this seriously because you could call me a tree hugger
We live in a developing area, trees down, buildings up, and the environment doesn't benefit!
Could you give that big fella a hug for me, we need more of both of you around

The pleasure is all mine. I am liking your writing :)
Such a brilliant message in this with easy flowing dialogue.

Loved these lines:
“Think yourself
The place where you reside
Is the graveyard
Where my family died”

They really resonated.
This could be an educational story for youngsters.

. Thank you so much.... I am glad u liked my work :)
Human beings are also part of Nature.
That we should be good stewards goes without saying.
Your saying of it, however, is quite charming
