I look at the Mirror

I look at the Mirror

A Poem by Azure Montessa (Blue)
"

I see her...

"

I look at the mirror and there I see
a very young woman smiling back at me.
With dark brown eyes, mysterious and deep,
she hides her monsters with secrets to keep.

I look at the mirror and there I see
the flaws on her face in morbid scrutiny.
She believes her lie--she's nothing but a beast,
with her heart intact to stay human at least.

I look at the mirror and there I see
someone with a name but without identity.
She used to be sure, now she's lost in her way
with nowhere to go, not even a place to stay.

I look at the mirror and there I see
the greatest of failures in world history.
With sins and mistakes all piled up so high
will one fervent prayer grant her mercy to die?

I look at the mirror and there I see
a shattered soul in poignant poetry.
Adorned with applause, hailed as divine
I pity the girl in her miserable shrine.

Beauty, Pain, Flaws all flawlessly getting reflected through this mirror like poem. Contrary to our beliefs our flaws and tragedies make our life the most beautiful

Sometimes self-doubt can erode our confidence, but this is natural and only a transient phase as with the dawn of another new day, that outer ( and inner ) beauty will be restored !!

A delightfully, delicate, deprecating poem, penned with pathos and purposeful poetic imagery !

This is wonderfully done, blue.

The mirror could only mimic the physical aspects. it is only the person looking at the mirror who could see through what lies beyond such physical reflection. in this piece, the young woman is being too hard on herself. i like the impeccable rhyme scheme.

Wow, that was one of your best poems, Blue. Outstanding and so well worded! When I was your age and wrote poetry, my very best wouldn't come remotely close to your 'average' poems. This, however, is extremely well done.

Your sense of self-worth (or lack of it) is examined through a brutally honest, if not overly harsh evaluation of yourself.

It is well done, but realize a mirror reflects what a face selects, but a soul projects what the heart reflects.

You are a beautiful person, Blue, and your poetry shows it.
